Anthem

One of Klender's first Anthems was his biggest hit, "Dear Mr. Jesus"; a small child's innocent plea about child abuse. He then realized he enjoys writing about various causes and the way each might effect us emotionally. I think this comes from a deeper desire to write songs that make listeners think farther beyond our everyday thoughts. Some might call it profound or thoughtful, but it's merely another way of telling a story that can pierce the heart, while increasing our capacity to think and dream in living color.

Anthems often proclaim or shout their own battle cry such as "Please don't let them hurt Your children" or "It's time for Building Bridges, who will take the higher road" or even the reassuring healing mystique that "Every Broken Heart makes you stronger". Klender "Anthem" attempts to knit the fabric of our lives together, in a way that offers hope for the future, despite the hurt and pain going on all around us. Klender accidentally (or wildly on purpose) just released 5 new albums of his own material. The album titles relate to the 5-star points of his favorite, tangled obsessions (Stories, Passion, Anthem, Cabernet & Worship). Klender also lives on, and runs, his own vineyard and boutique winery where he produces the gold medal, award-winning, Klender Estate Cabernet Sauvignon. He divides his time between his vineyard, winemaking and writing/producing music. You may listen to samples of his music below or if you CLICK on the TITLE of any underlined song it will take you to a detail webpage that highlights more information about that song, on this album. These pages include detailed Credits as well as music videos, video interviews and a Backstory about each song, which we believe you'll find interesting. A digital Box Set, of 35 songs, has also been released titled "Farewell", which contains all the songs from this album as well as many other songs from his other albums.

Ocean City Nights

Headin’ downee ocean, Friday
For a blowout weekend in the sun
Backed up on the Bay Bridge, baby
Put down the top for some fun
I see the glow of the distant Lighthouse
Gazebo lights on the bay
Breathing in that cool salty air
My heart is hungry to stay

Ocean City nights
Summer love in the moonlight
My favorite little hideaway
Oooh, those Ocean City nights

Cruisin’ Coastal Boulevard
I dream of you here by my side
Steal a kiss on the boardwalk baby
Riding the tide
Baby, I’ve got some cash to burn
Let’s close ol’ Macky’s down
Then lay out under the stars that shine
And toast this crazy ol’ town

Ocean City nights
Summer love in the moonlight
My favorite little hideaway
Oooh, those Ocean City nights

Bikini beaches
Warm summer skies
Where we can party forever
And the music never dies

Like wild horses of Assateague
Nothing could keep me away
I’ve got memories to last a lifetime
And that’s just yesterday

Ocean City nights
Summer love in the moonlight
My favorite little hideaway
Oooh, those Ocean City nights

Ocean City nights
Summer love in the moonlight
I can still remember…just like college days
Oooh, those Ocean City nights

Ocean City nights
Summer love in the moonlight
Our perfect Seacrets hideway
Oooh, those Ocean City nights

Every Broken Heart

We tore down walls, to build a door, before
Now we hold our weapons close, so silently we fight this war
Love stops without you, life loses its way
A storm is forever raging, still some lovers say

Every broken heart makes you stronger
Every lonely road has its end

I never dreamed, you’d up and go, now I know
But roses wilt, and they get cast out on the snow
Deep waters flowing, such pain, lies will deceive
Time, get my engines going, help me believe

Every broken heart makes you stronger
Every lonely road has its end
Every broken heart makes you stronger
Pick up the shattered shards and mend again

Innocence falling, hard crash, in the cold
Ten thousand pieces calling, story be told

Every broken heart makes you stronger
Every lonely road has its end
Every broken heart makes you stronger
Pick up the shattered shards and mend again
repeat…

Whatever Makes You Happy

If you want kisses, I can give ‘em, everyday
My love can make you fly to the skies
When you need it, I can bring it, every way
Long as there’s a smile in your eyes

Baby, whatever makes you happy
Whatever makes you happy
Cause I’m in love with you, just you
Whatever makes you happy

If you need diamonds, I can give ‘em
I’ll work my fingers down to the bone
Girl I need you, drive me crazy
I’ll never ever leave you alone

Baby, yeah, whatever makes you happy
Whatever makes you happy
Cause I’m in love with you, just you
Whatever makes you happy

Never ever been down this road before
You bring the style, when you walk thru my door
Oooh Cause everyday you make my love feel new
Never had a woman like you

If you need flowers, I deliver
Every fine fragrance from France
I will always do right baby
If you will only give me a chance

Baby, yeah, whatever makes you happy
Whatever makes you happy
Cause I’m in love with you, just you
Whatever makes you happy

Building Bridges

The angels shed a tear today
As the rain falls gently down
While two sides bow in reverence
We lay another in the ground
So much love, too much division
A country ripped and torn
From one fabric, a divided Nation
Can kindness be reborn

It’s time for building bridges
Who will take the higher road
Cause when you’re building bridges
Something great inside explodes
Someone to climb that mountain,-make a brand new friend
When we start building bridges, once again

We lift our glasses high tonight
Salute a life well lived
But we break with heavy hearts
When we cannot forgive
So much joy, we remember
Like a Father to his Son
Can we love just one more neighbor
Or do we hit and run

It’s time for building bridges
Who will take the higher road
Cause when you’re building bridges
Something great inside explodes
Someone to climb that mountain,-make a brand new friend
It’s time for building bridges,
When we start building bridges
Can we start building bridges, once again

Young Robots in Love

Wanna dance
Would you chance it
In the midnight sun
Give a glance
Let’s romance it
Do you need someone

When you move
You look fine
Steal my heart
Make some time

Young robots in love
Little screens with A.I.
Young robots in love
Livin’ life,You and I

Humanoid
Don’t avoid me
It’s an android world
Celluloid
Polaroid me
You can be my girl

Drive you home
Make you laugh
Kiss my mouth
System crash

Young robots in love
Little screens with A.I.
Young robots in love
Livin’ life, You and I
Repeat chorus

The Trophy

Another rainy day, lost in Santa Fe
Until I saw those eyes so tender
She said, Charlie how you been, great to see your smile again
The years all melt in sweet surrender

All the words I didn’t say, you’re the one that got way
How I wish I could go back, to yesterday

Life is all in the living, can’t hang love on your walls
Success is unforgiving, believe me I’ve seen it all
Love can slip thru the heart, or get lost in the wine
But when I breathe in the journey, then the Trophy is mine

While fighting back my fear, she brushes back a tear
That awkward pause that time can’t measure
Looking deep into your eyes, I just can’t say goodbye
Baby, can you stay forever

I remember long ago, and I just can’t let you go
And if there’s one thing that I know

Life is all in the living, can’t hang love on your walls
Success is unforgiving, believe me I’ve seen it all
Love can slip thru the heart, or get lost in the wine
But when I breathe in the journey, then the Trophy is mine

Rock & Roll Music

Crank it up, radio on fire
Give it up, let that rhythm take you higher

When I feel that backbeat, I gotta hit the floor
Everybody dance all night, ’til we just can’t dance no more

Can’t stop when I hear Rock & Roll Music
Don’t stop ’til you drop, Rock & Roll Music
We’ll be rocking all night long, playing my favorite song
Rock and roll music

Party time, let the music pull you under
Summertime, speakers loud as thunder
Songs about new lovers, mixed with a little pain
Stories of a lifetime, and true love lost in vain

Can’t stop when I hear Rock & Roll Music
Don’t stop ’til you drop, Rock & Roll Music
We’ll be rocking all night long, playing my favorite song
Rock and roll music

Bass and drums thumpin’ loud, pump up the crowd
Oooh, the passion
Loud guitars scream and rage, light up the stage from the start
It’s the beat of my heart

Can’t stop when I hear Rock & Roll Music
Don’t stop ’til you drop, Rock & Roll Music
Can’t stop when I hear Rock & Roll Music
Don’t stop ’til you drop, Rock & Roll Music

Can’t stop when I hear Rock & Roll Music
Don’t stop ’til you drop, Rock & Roll Music
We’ll be rocking all night long, playing our favorite song
Rock and roll music, don’t lose it, rock and roll music

HUG

My world fell down around me
So deep in debt, I can't even move
Crumbling walls surround me
Drowning in darkness, lost in the blues

A hand-out to hold, the heart of a friend
Someone to sit with, and believe again

Hug, a smile and a touch
Hug, I could use one so much
Warm blanket, hot tea in a mug
Don’t sweep me under the rug
Hug

Living through my blackest night
Waiting alone in the rain
Grasping for some saving light
Hoping that it’s not a train

One kind word, would warm my soul
And pull me out of this sinking hole…

Hug, a smile and a touch
Hug, I could use one so much
Warm blanket, hot tea in a mug
Don’t sweep me under the rug
Hug

Sit with me thru my tears
Hold my hand through the rage
Pray with me though my fears
Help me to breathe - and be okay

Hug, a smile and a touch…

Survivor

She remembers her pajamas
With Pooh Bear and padded feet
That night she lost her innocence
Between daddy’s cold cold sheets
These days she has her own child
As she struggles to get by
And though she fights to hide her secret
Late at night her pillow cries

Survivor, all the battles we’ve been through
Survivor, it all comes down to me and you
And though the storm is raging and the flesh be torn apart
You’re a true Survivor of the heart

He remembers playing baseball
4 for 4 on opening day
Mom missed out on all those seasons
Stepdad never saw him play
Today his own son hit a homerun
But he was working out of town
Still caught between forgiveness
And the love that let him down

Survivor, all the battles you’ve been through
Survivor, it all comes down to me and you
And though the storm is raging and the flesh be torn apart
You’r a true survivor of the heart

There’s a brand new hope for this little child inside
Please believe me there’s no need to hide

Survivor, all the battles you’ve been through
Survivor, it all comes down to me and you
And though the storm is raging and the flesh be torn apart
You’r a true survivor of the heart

Free us, free us, free us

Survivor, all the battles you’ve been through
Survivor…

Haunted & Hunted

I’m on a slow train to nowhere
Dancin’ in a hurricane
Laughin’ at the wind
Spinnin’ like a weather vane

Blinded by darkness
In the tempest of despair
Shouting in a cyclone
Hanging on a prayer

Haunted and hunted
Drown’d in deja vu
Haunted and hunted
Haunted by you

I’m on a slow train to nowhere
Freebird in a cage
Howling at the moon
Swallowing that rage

Haunted and hunted
Drown’d in deja vu
Haunted and hunted
Haunted by you

Hold on shattered hourglass
Hide in the alleys or underpass
Rusty ol’ broken heart for a home

Haunted and hunted..

Dear Mr. Jesus

Dear Mr. Jesus, I just had to write to you
Something really scared me, when I saw it on the news
A story ‘bout a little girl, beaten black and blue
Jesus, thought I’d take this right to you

Dear Mr. Jesus, I don’t understand
Why they took her mom and dad away
I know that they don’t mean to hit, with wild and angry hands
Tell them just how big they are I pray

Please don’t let them hurt Your children
We need love and shelter from the storm
Please don’t let them hurt Your children
Won’t you keep us safe and warm

Dear Mr. Jesus, they say that she may die
Oh, I hope the doctors stop the pain
I know that you could save her and take her up to the sky
Where she would never have to hurt again

Please don’t let them hurt Your children
We need love and shelter from the storm
Please don’t let them hurt Your children
Won’t you keep us safe and warm

Dear Mr. Jesus, please tell me what to do
And please don’t tell my daddy, but my mommy hits me, too

Please don’t let them hurt Your children
We need love and shelter from the storm
Please don’t let them hurt Your children
Won’t you keep us safe and warm

Broken Warriors

I still remember Noah, growing up downtown
He was poor, yet bore his heart, ‘til he tore your fences down
His little Jill was pretty, but she never let it show
She tucked that hurt inside her past, like a Marilyn Monroe

They were young and free, maybe they were meant to be

Broken warriors, need each other to survive
Hold onto that ledge of love, ’til you make it home alive
Broken warriors shout (Hey!), live on in a world without
I will always love you ’til the end, broken friend

Jill got in a car crash, cut her face and crushed her chest
Noah never left her side, as she laid there in distress
He said, “love keep on fighting”, as she held his shaking hand
He drove out that stormy night, and brought back a wedding band

They were young and free, pledging their humanity

Broken warriors, need each other to survive
Hold onto that ledge of love, ’til you make it home alive
Broken warriors shout (Hey!), live on in a world without
I will always love you ’til the end, broken friend

Many battles later, Jill has another child
And one of them named Noah, shares his daddy’s heartfelt smile

They are young and free, maybe they were meant to be

Broken warriors, need each other to survive
Hold onto that ledge of love, ’til you make it home alive
Broken warriors shout (Hey!), live on in a world without
And I will always love you ’til the end, broken friend

Cry

Cry, Cry, I don’t know why…
Makes me wanna cry

Tears, so many tears,
Years, so many years,
I don’t know why…
Makes me wanna cry

Hope, Dream, Love, Scream, Why…
So you don’t have to cry

Heard the news… can’t believe its true…
Walkin’ round in these blue shoes…
Why… makes me wanna cry

Cry, Cry, Cry… I don’t know why…
Makes me wanna cry

Hope, Dream, Love, Scream, Why…
So you don’t have to cry, so you don’t have to cry…

Lost a friend… never heard that voice again
But that’s not the end…
Why, makes me wanna cry…

Hope, Dream, Love, Scream, Why…
So you don’t have to cry… repeat chorus
Cry… Cry… why… so you don’t have to cry
