HUG

There are so many people going through tough times these days. Many have been through fire devastation, flooding, homelessness, Covid 19, economic downturn and you name it. When others have the bottom pulled out from under them, they need a lift, and a HUG. They need to feel the compassion of others around them. When nothing else works, often the simplest solution is human touch.

Organizations like the Red Cross, FEMA, and Federal Disaster Assistance have lifted many out of the muck and mire through the toughest of times. We all could use a blanket, warm drink and a HUG at times, but especially when devastation occurs.

Behind the Music

Bob Cusick and I wrote this song as a result of all the CA fires happening around us. So many lost their property and some lost pets and other friends. It was a disaster and we felt so deeply hurt for those in surrounding areas affected. I even remember the afternoon my small vineyard was almost taken out by fire... someone threw a cigarette butt out of their car window onto the adjacent highway shoulder and set the field ablaze. Within minutes, during the dry summer heat, flames sped across the field towards the vineyard. Thankfully, a Cal Fire plane swooped in quickly and saved the day, dropping fire retardant (shown here). I was so fortunate that my vineyard was protected. It's community servants like these who are our crucial link during those trying times.

Behind the Video

Bob Cusick decided to tell this story through a series of stills and video clips that demonstrate the depths of despair we could quickly find ourselves in. Community is most important during disasters. We all need to be there for our neighbors on those toughest of days.
