Louisiana Lue

Legend has it that there's a gorgeous young woman who lives alone in the swamp lands of the Bayou. Sometimes she'll appear unannounced to stock up on supplies, but then she quickly disappears again into the Bayou fog. Many men have tried to follow and approach her, but somehow she slips away from them every time. Seems she’s never really met her match. Nobody knows if she’d even like to find Mr. Right, but they keep on trying, to no avail. Rumor has it, she almost got hitched one time to a rugged hunter/fisherman, but she ended up as a runaway bride, so who knows what really happened there?

She has some fancy French name, but all the locals just call her "Lue". She sure knows her way around the foggy bog and obviously loves the serenity there. No-one quite knows how to approach her; she's always carrying... even if they could find her, but you never know when & where she might appear, so locals, and visitors alike, are always on the lookout for this local beauty.

Myth or truth they ask?… nobody seems to know all the details, but her story is legendary. If you haven't heard it, listen to the song or ask the locals next time you stop by to fish, down on the Bayou.

Louisiana Lue

If you ever find yourself in the backwoods of the Louisiana Bayou
You might come across Bubba’s Bait Shop & Worm Emporium
Ask Bubba to tell you his story… it goes like this…

I was fishing off a swamp boat down Louisiana way
Come a gun-toting backwood beauty thru the foggy grey
Hotter than cayenne, woo, man o’ man
She could steal your heart, in her camo lingerie

They say, she’s got 11 brothers
A warrior dad, one worn-out mother
Who went out for a Camel, and a gator…ate her

They call her…
Louisiana Lue, pride of the bayou
Many men have tried, a few have died
Louisiana Lou, (woo), I love you
Jumbalaya, fit to be tied

She had some fancy French name, but we just call her Lue…her sparkling smile shines like a lure…careful!.. you can’t catch a gator by the tail…

She can ride a gator to the General Store
She don’t give a croc bout your 4x4
Are you tough enough, are you man enough
With those Daisy Duke eyes, she’ll wipe you off the floor

In the misty moonlight air
She lets down her raven hair
In a swamp shack back behind the foggy bog

Oooh, Louisiana Lue, I love you
Many men have tried, a few have died
Louisiana Lou, Pride of the bayou
I wish I could make you my bride

No one’s seen Lue for awhile. One day she just up and vanished into the morning fog. So keep your eyes out for a camo-wearing swamp flower with a ponytail tucked through her hat; she’ll be wearing gator skin boots, packing a bowie knife and a pair of .38s - you just never know…

Behind the Music

This song was so fun to write! Huff started with those infectious driving guitars and then layered in some Banjo and Bass for complimentary texture. Once he found that swamp sound, the song started writing itself. We had fun bringing her legacy to life, in song.

Behind the Video

This video was put together by our collaborator and director, Bob Cusick. He setup an old nightclub look for our short performance parts, and Bob and I had lots of fun playing and singing on this one. I love how Cusick brings in the local flavor and culture through his images. It's a fun place to hang out for awhile...
