This Flag

This Flag stands for our freedom and our liberty. It is carried proudly by our heroes and honors our fallen as well as our courageous fighters. We always need to remember where this flag has been; on our battle fields, draping the caskets of our fallen, flying proudly, in the wind, from our most important buildings… designed to help us remember.

Patriotism is something I grew up with. Maybe it was a different time but the feelings that I get each 4th of July never go away. I am thankful for all those who came before me and built this country we live in; those who fought or worked hard for a cause they believed in. It inspires me to do the same. America is not perfect but it sure beats the tyranny that some live under each day. I cherish my freedoms. We all stand on wide shoulders when it comes to our history and the legacy it leaves. I’m inspired to leave it just a little better than the way it was handed to me.

This Flag

I fly this flag, in memory and pride
The emblem of honor, the heroes who died
United we stand, America strong
For all we believe, right where we belong

I love this flag, hand over of my heart
Long live our land, who could tear us apart
These stars and these stripes, I don’t dare let ‘em drag
I kneel down to pray, but I stand for this flag

This Flag says freedom, this Flag speaks dreams
This Flag holds history, bustin’ out at the seams
This Flag might get torn, but its story waves true
If this Flag could talk, tales of red white & blue

Heroes remembered, we will never forget
Daughters and sons, who gave up their best
You raise morning colors, fly tall everyday
These colors don’t run, they won’t fade away

This Flag says freedom, this Flag speaks dreams…

More than 200 years, extreme sacrifice
1 million soldiers… paid that ultimate price
I salute you Old Glory, long may you wave
Pledge my allegiance, to the home of the brave

I love this flag, These colors don’t run, God bless this flag

Behind the Music

This song sprung from the song “This Barn” and just felt like a natural transformation. I’ve always loved the simple and powerful guitar hooks that Bob Huff came up with. I believe I rewrote the lyric on Flag Day. I’ve always loved the song “This Barn” but I wasn’t sure it was universal enough for everyone to embrace. “This Flag” is a concept every American can get behind, especially if they have an ounce of patriotism in their bones.

Behind the Video

Bob Cusick put this video together as a way to honor Bob Huff's daughter, "Sam", who gave her life for our country and Flag; while fighting for our Freedom, in Iraq. Sam was a beautiful and amazing young woman and an MP, deserving of special honor. Her vehicle was destroyed by an IED while she was on patrol during the Iraq War. We salute her faithful service and the service of millions of other Americans who love this country and fight to protect This Flag.
