What Can You Say to the Moon

I wrote this song when I was looking back over the years, pondering the what’s and why’s of life... driving alone across the heartland is always good for my soul... gives me time to think about the things that matter in life... I needed a road trip to think about where my heart had been and where it was heading... deep feelings of love gained and love lost; how shattered dreams often birth and build the character we need for our next chapter... ...questioning what my life was about... thankfully realizing how it was so much bigger than just me... this song was birthed on that road trip and is one of my favorite writing memories... I hope it stirs new thoughts for you...

We all have a unique story... if you’ve ever felt left on your own to sort life out... there are so many questions to ask... it hurts when your special love moves on and leaves you standing there... it hurts more when you don't know why... ...of course, there is always that hope that your greatest dream or love is just around the next bend in the road... did you ever just take a road trip to clear life's cobwebs and escape from everything for a few days, giving yourself the needed time to think about what it all means...

What Can You Say to the Moon

Your heart’s been spinning like a tumbleweed
Along love's dusty trail
You may be thirsty as a locoweed
But still your love won't fail

You can't imagine what this feeling's like
You've never felt like this before
Like a stranger on a summer night
Love came and left you wanting more
One warm night is all you remember
When you look up to the sky, tell me…

What can you say to the moon
When love is all that you see
It's all been said, though you still shake your head
Tell me, what can you say to the moon

They say you’re crazy, cause you love in vain
Least Heaven knows you tried
They think you’re lazy but you’re just insane
From all that hurt you hold inside
If one warm night is all you remember
When you lay your head to die, tell me…

What can you say to the moon
When love is all that you see
It's all been said, though you still shake your head
Tell me, what can you say to the moon

Behind the Music

I recently recorded a new vocal track on this version, for my new "Passion" album (available on Spotify), which has some different character than the previous. Some say they like my voice smooth; I like it when it has a little more edge on it. Feels more real to me...

Behind the Video

Bob Cusick came up with the video concept for this song. It tells a little of the story I went through when I was traveling through the heartland to shake out the cobwebs... ...this video is merely one visualization of my story... tell me YOUR story of this song .. I’d love to hear about the road trip that may have changed your life... how do you feel when you see this video... through pictures or words... if you’d like to hear more songs of mine that tell stories, please let me know... I'm always working on new ideas...
