Manslaughter

This song is about beauty and temptation and it's strange power over man. Although it's a warning, it is rarely heeded because it's a lesson every man must learn for himself. The beauty of a woman has an intriguing power and pull. Most women are very aware of their power, but some use it righteously while others are guilty of using it like a dangerous weapon. Those women know who they are...this song warns of them.

For the most part, nature set things up this way for a good reason... attraction, and the procreation of our species; however, add in the over-sexualization of our fast-moving Hollywood culture, and we now have a recipe for an un-arrestable crime. This sexy dilemna has been with us for thousands of years. Many have fallen prey. It's nothing new, it just finds new ways to metastasize our culture. The most ironic part is that many men invite it and may even enjoy it until it has nearly ruined them.

Hey!...Don't say I didn't warn you...

Manslaughter

He’s riding home on the highway
His eyes are red and warn
He fights to stay awake
As he rides on through the storm
She sneaks up close beside him
Gives her sexy eyes a flash
He swerves into the ditches
Rolls into a fatal crash

And in the eyes of the Law
She’s manslaughter

There’s a young boy at a party
In the corner meek and shy
So worried he’ll get lucky
That he’s too afraid to try
His peers put on the pressure
As she takes him by the hand
She pulls him to a bedroom
Makes him die just like a man

And in the eyes of the Law
She’s manslaughter
And in the eyes of the Law
She’s manslaughter

Oooh, she’s so worldly fine
In her high-heels, diamonds and blue jeans, she’s a crime
Ooooh, those eyes, they can kill so slow
The fool will be her victim, let a wise man let her go

And in the eyes of the Law
She’s manslaughter
And in the eyes of the Law
She’s manslaughter

There’s an old man in a hotel
He’s as lonely as can be
So he walks down to the barroom
Just to find some company
Her drink is getting empty
So she looks him in the eyes
He chokes upon his memory
Has a heart attack and dies

And in the eyes of the Law
She’s manslaughter
And in the eyes of the Law
She’s manslaughter

Behind the Music

I wrote this song some years ago but always wanted to re-record it. The great drums of Gregg Bissonette (drummer extraordinaire; Ringo Starr, David Lee Roth) brings incredible energy to this track. The wild guitar work of Nashville studio great, B. James Lowry (guitarist for Rosanne Cash, Vince Gill, Faith Hill, etc.), adds an edgy texture that makes the track stand up on end and make the song's premise believable.

Behind the Video

I hope we get to do a music video for this song someday. It would be wild...
