Young Robots in Love

Welcome to the world of A.I. ! Artificial Intelligence... it seems like everything is heading towards the machines these days… automated this, automated that... computer voicemail, cars that drive themselves,… you name it.

Have you boarded any public transportation lately? Everybody on board have their eyes glued to their little phones and it seems that nobody even acknowledges each other anymore. It's wild... we're so caught up in our little social media worlds that we are missing the bigger world around us. Imagine that...

Young Robots in Love

Wanna dance
Would you chance it
In the midnight sun
Give a glance
Let’s romance it
Do you need someone

When you move
You look fine
Steal my heart
Make some time

Young robots in love
Little screens with A.I.
Young robots in love
Livin’ life,You and I

Humanoid
Don’t avoid me
It’s an android world
Celluloid
Polaroid me
You can be my girl

Drive you home
Make you laugh
Kiss my mouth
System crash

Young robots in love
Little screens with A.I.
Young robots in love
Livin’ life, You and I
Repeat chorus

Words & Music by Bob Huff & Richard Klender

Behind the Music

When my collaborator, Bob Huff, sent me this basic track, I wasn't sure what to do with it. It was quite different than what he might normally send me. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE that aspect of it. My first stab at writing a melody and lyric was quite boring and it really sucked, so I decided to start over. I talked to Huff about it and we agreed that we could just "get out of the box" a little on this one. So I scrapped my first idea and tackled the fun track again, deciding to just go for something weird, fun and crazy... his track felt very "robotic" so I just started singing out crazy lines that a robot might sing and the song evolved from there. It was fun and very freeing to write it. When I played it for Huff, he just laughed out loud so I knew we somehow hit the right chord with this little story. Hope you enjoy it and jump "out of the box" with us...

Behind the Video

When it comes to jumping “out of the box”, Bob Cusick always embraces that idea, so he was a natural for this video. We wanted to have fun with robots as well as make a small social comment about a younger generation and their relationship with their little cellphones. He got a lot of great footage and edited it very creatively giving our robot lifelike qualities. My favorite shot is the final shot where our robot is so sad that his new girlfriend is heading off to work. You can sense that he longs for her return. Hmmm… wonder which one is the actual robot? Hmmm…
