Tattoo

Inking our skin has become quite the popular fashion statement these days; at least within certain generations. Exterior art and stains on the skin can make a powerful proclamation or comment. In addition to exterior stains, this song also discusses those deeper stains that are found on the inside.

Indelible stains often leave permanent scars. The difference is that internal tattoos often stay hidden. They are just as powerful of an assertion to the individual who feels their pain; we just can’t see them, unless we look and listen very closely. Hmmm...maybe it's time I pay closer attention...

Tattoo

All alone in the night
The flame of burning desire
The presence of You
The heat of Your fire
You’ve taken control
You put your mark on my soul
Invisible and indelible
In crimson and blue

TATTOO, TATTOO, TATTOO, TATTOO

I’m a warrior of love
I’ve been wounded and dyed
By the touch of Your eyes
I’m naked inside
Forgiven and stained
By Your blood and Your pain
I want the world to know my passion for You

TATTOO, TATTOO, TATTOO, TATTOO

Some scars will turn the skin to leather
But Yours will live inside me… imprinted forever…

TATTOO, TATTOO, TATTOO, TATTOO
TATTOO, TATTOO, TATTOO, TATTOO

Behind the Music

I remember writing this song with Jon years ago. It was an interesting writing experience and interesting play on external and internal scars. We wrote it long before tattoos even became the popular thang. I’ve always loved the song and enjoyed rerecording the song with Glenn’s new tom-toms and my new vocals.

Behind the Video

Bob Cusick came up with the visuals for this new video. I think his storyline really helps you feel the lyric, with a deeper meaning.
