Take the Time

Lord, who will stand when everyone is sitting
Lord, who will be the first to get in line
And who will light the fire, and speak their heart’s desire
Some men hold up torches, some hide their gifts inside
Do we need another earthquake
Or that showdown at Big Sky
Before we even stop and understand
Are we so busy making a living
That we forget to make a life
Or can we take that leap of faith
And give someone a hand

Somebody to take the time
To feed the hungry heart, to fill the lonely mind
Somebody to take the time
To listen for the call, to lead and stand up tall
But who will take the time, to take the time

Lord, who will stay awake when all are sleeping
Lord, who will take the field and run the ball
You have given us so much, In One Holy Spirit touch
We can learn by your example, when we live to risk it all
Do we need another hero, on the evening news tonight
To make up for the deeds we’d love to do
Will we turn our heads in envy
With a thousand reasons why
When we should give the glory all to You

Somebody to take the time
To feed the hungry heart, to fill the lonely mind
Somebody to take the time
To listen for the call, to lead and stand up tall
But who will take the time, to take the time
